This tournament was held in memory of former members Vince Tester and his sister Vicky Turland. Congratulations to the winners Adrian, Bill and Malcolm, and many thanks to Michelle (Vince’s daughter) who came all the way from Cornwall to present the prizes.

We were delighted that the Deputy Mayor of Brighton & Hove (councillor Mohammed Asaduzzaman) came to open our green today for the official start of the 2024 summer season.

Our annual Crown Green Bowls day will be held on 13 April at 2pm. This is a fun occasion, and full instructions will be given on the day. The afternoon includes refreshments - please sign the list in the clubhouse if you would like to attend.

Our winter Captains Drive has now finished, and the prizes were presented on 25 March (along with tea). Congratulations to Adrian Williams (1st), Bill (2nd), Alan Saunders (3rd), Alison Kennedy (4th) and Tim Lawrence (5th).

Today we hosted Vince Tester’s funeral wake in our clubhouse. Vince joined our club in 2009 and was Captain from 2016 to 2018. He will be sadly missed.

We had a celebration for member Audrey Francis’ 90th birthday in the clubhouse today. It was a great time and her family were able to join us for the special occasion.

The prize presentation for the Captain’s monday drive was made today. It was awarded to the player who had achieved the best results over the summer season. Congratulations to the winner Alison Kennedy, and many thanks to Captain Hazel Blair-Smith and her helpers for organising. 57 players took part and the top 20 can be seen by clicking on the image above.

Congratulations to Ray Page, Alan Saunders, and Tim Lawrence on winning the Vicky Turland Memorial Shield. Vicky was a member of the club for over 20 years and this annual event is held to celebrate her life. The trophy was presented by Vicky’s brother Vince Tester (On the left in the photo)

This morning David Culmer beat Lisa Harris in the Rose Bowl Trophy match (between the mens and ladies club champions). He will now represent Portslade in the Champion of Champions tournament next season.
